  DIC Tertiary Butyl Catechol

DIC Tertiary Butyl Catechol (TBC) is a highly specialized polymerization inhibitor for products such as butadiene, styrene, and other unsaturated hydrocarbons. It also functions as an antioxidant and stabilizer for polyethylene, silicone rubber, heptane, vinyl pyridine, and dicyclopentadiene.

In stannic tin catalysts and urethane foams, TBC is used as a chelating agent.  TBC is a free radical scavenger, which can extend gelation time. TBC will not discolor styrene monomers, nor will it crystallize over time as will various hydroquinone type inhibitors.

DIC International is one of the leading suppliers of tertiary butyl catechol in North America.
