Oxone™ monopersulfate handles processes that need strong oxidation. Home Care and Cleaning Formulations
Oxone™ brings oxidation to home care and cleaning formulations without chlorine odor or chlorinated byproducts. It removes stains and improves brightness on fabrics and hard surfaces at 20°C wash temperatures, which supports the cold-water cycles consumer brands are formulating. It also acts quickly, so short wash and cleaning cycles still get the job done.
Oxone™ functions in laundry detergents, automatic dishwashing detergents, hard surface cleaners including toilet bowl and drain products, and appliance cleaners for washing machines, dishwashers, and coffee machines. In machine dishwashing, it removes tough stains and prevents water spotting without high wash temperatures. In toilet bowl and drain applications, its oxidizing strength breaks down organic matter.
The powder form incorporates into powdered detergents, unit-dose tablets, and pods, and it dissolves quickly once it reaches water. Oxone™ is odorless, so it carries none of the smell chlorine oxidizers bring, and it does not mask an added fragrance. It also achieves the same or better cleaning at lower use levels than sodium percarbonate, and it ships under transport hazard Class 8 rather than the Class 5.1 that applies to sodium percarbonate.
Metal Surface Preparation
Oxone™ is a free-flowing powder chemical microetchant for electronics and printed wiring board manufacturing. It produces high etch rates that are uniform and predictable, excellent bonding morphology, well-defined surface topography, contaminant removal, and high rinsability. Baths last longer and require only simple analysis and control. Performance improves at lower temperatures, which cuts energy and cost.
Metal Finishing and Hydrometallurgy
Oxone™ (KPMS) also works in direct and indirect oxidation techniques across metal extraction, ore separation, hydrometallurgy, and surface treatments of metals and metal alloys, including alloy formation, lamination, copper plating, final finish, and flash etch. It destroys cyanides and oxidizes chromium, copper sulfide, chalcopyrite, cobalt, nickel, and manganese.
In nonferrous metal finishing, Oxone™ etches, or microetches surfaces to reduce their thickness, removes oxidation layers, and pre-cleans surfaces before metal bonding or plating.
Environmental Waste Streams
Oxone™ most often oxidizes cyanide, reduced sulfur, and amine compounds, and it handles safely and conveniently. When it oxidizes hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in waste streams, KPMS deodorizes a waste stream or stack through scrubbing without on-site manufacture or handling of hazardous ingredients such as Caro's acid. Analytical testing is still required to assess the effect on the waste stream and to confirm the complete removal of all compounds, including mercaptans, sulfides, disulfides, and sulfites.
For metal plating or mining operations that need cyanide removal, Oxone™ oxidizes cyanide far more quickly than hydrogen peroxide, sodium percarbonate, sodium perborate, or sodium dipersulfate. Oxone™ based processes suit dilute or small waste streams well. It also transports and stores more easily than hydrogen peroxide, sodium percarbonate, sodium perborate, peracetic acid, sodium dipersulfate, chlorine, or hypochlorite, and more easily than ozone, which cannot be transported at all.
