ADCOTE™ 577A is the polyester urethane component of a two-component, solvent-based laminating adhesive system. This adhesive is typically used for film-to-film and film-to-foil laminations in flexible packaging and industrial applications.
ADCOTE™ 577A is a medium-performance polyester urethane adhesive set within an ethyl acetate solvent. It requires the use of Coreactant ADCOTE™ 577B to achieve full properties.
Compared to the ADCOTE™ 577 adhesive, ADCOTE™ 577A contains a higher–molecular weight resin that provides better green shear and bond strength. This facilitates faster slitting times and postprocessing to manufacture flexible packaging with less turnaround time.
ADCOTE™ 577A/577B can be used in all typical laminations for laminating aluminum foil and various polyester, polyolefin, and coextruded films typically used in food, medical, and industrial packaging applications.
Compared to other solvent-based laminating adhesives offered by Dow, ADCOTE™ 577A/577B can be used in a wider variety of applications, owing to its broad chemical- and heat-resistance properties. While it is ideal for dry snack food, meat, cheese, frozen food, and oily and greasy foods, it is also well suited for laminations that contain chemically aggressive solutions used in medical and pharmaceutical applications. The high heat resistance of this adhesive also makes it suitable for creating hot fill, boil-in-bag, and retortable pouches that involve the lamination of materials, such as polyester to foil or nylon to foil.
