Overview
Tyzor® CLA is a chelated, organic titanate in an isopropal solution. When exposed to moisture it forms a reactive hydroxy titanium chelate that is stable in water for an extended time. Tyzor® CLA or the hydroxy titanium chelate formed with water can cross link polymers with carboxyl and hydroxyl functionality. This is useful in oil well fracturing fluids where it forms viscous gels out of aqueous dispersions of guar. Tyzor® CLA is also used to cross-link polymers and binders used in solvent borne and water-based paints and coatings. As a reaction catalyst, Tyzor® CLA is especially useful in esterification reactions where it benefits from it's compatibility with water. It helps to improve yield while reducing by-products and it is much less toxic than other metallic catalysts.
