Tyzor® BTP is a 100% actives n-butyl polytitanate that is used as a reaction catalyst, cross-linking agent, binder, film former and adhesion promoter.
Tyzor® BTP is a highly reactive organic titanate that is used in a wide variety of applications. It has a very high titanium dioxide content and it is extremely sensitive to moisture. Tyzor® BTP has a high affinity for hydroxyl groups and carboxyl groups. It is an effective cross linking agent for polymers with this functionality. As an additive to paints and coatings, Tyzor® BTP improves adhesion, durability of cured films, and drying time. It can also act as a binder on its own for systems that require high temperature resistance. As a reaction catalyst, Tyzor® BTP is suited for reducing by-products and improving yield of esterification, addition, and condensation reactions. It has a very low toxicity and can be used at very low levels. Tyzor® BTP can also be used to form polymeric films of titanium dioxide by sol-gel processes. This is useful in glass coating applications to improve light reflection and iridescence.

-Reaction catalysts
Elimination of by products, increased yield, easy work up, low catalyst concentration and low toxicity
-Coatings
Improved surface hardness, coloring effects, corrosion protection and heat and light reflection, iridescence, corrosion resistance, scratch resistance and adhesion in coating applications
-Paint Additives
BTP can be used as an additive to crosslink -OH and -COOH functional polymers, act as a binder itself or promote adhesion.
-Pigments and Films
Can be used to Micro or nano scale TiO2 pigments used to create polymeric TiO2 films on surfaces via pyrolytic or hydrolytic processes
-Binder
Tyzor® BTP can act as an inorganic binder by itself or combined with metal oxides in mineral filled systems to provide high temperature resistance.
Production of unwanted byproducts during esterification, addition, and condensation reactions
Slow cure or drying rate of coatings, inks, adhesives and sealants
Abrasive damage to coatings that occur due to a lack of surface hardness
