Tyzor® 212, zirconium chelate
Tyzor® 212 is a water stable zirconium chelate that will crosslink nucleophilic functional groups. it is used in fracturing fluids as a gelling agent.
Tyzor® 212 contains 52% active ingredients in a 1-propanol solution. This zirconium chelate will react with water to form a reactive hydroxy zirconium chelate that is stable in aqueous solutions for an extended period of time. Tyzor® 212 will form bonds with hydroxyl and carboxyl functionality and work to cross link these sites on a polymer. In oil well fracturing fluids with a pH of 8.5-11 Tyzor® 212 is used for delayed cross linking of guar dispersions. At temperatures above 120° F it is activated and causes a dramatic increase in viscosity. Tyzor® 212 is also used to cross link polymers used in inks, paints, and coatings to improve durability of the dried film and to increase the speed of cure, Additionally, Tyzor® 212 can be used to treat surfaces like metal and glass to promote adhesion.
