MOLYKOTE® 7375 Additive Powder is a friction control additive engineered for brake and clutch lining formulators who need stable, quiet, and durable braking performance. It is a free-flowing blend of inorganic solids designed to be incorporated directly into disc brake pads, drum brake linings, railroad brake pads, and clutch linings. By stabilizing friction, reducing fade, and cutting vibration, MOLYKOTE® 7375 helps you hit demanding NVH and stopping-distance targets without relying on legacy antimony or lead systems. The additive supports high temperature performance up to around 650 °C, allowing friction materials to maintain consistent behavior under repeated, high-energy braking. With no intentional PTFE or PFAS and compliance with End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) requirements, it aligns with modern regulatory and OEM expectations. If you are tuning brake pad formulations for comfort, durability, and low noise, MOLYKOTE® 7375 gives you a proven, multi-purpose brake pad additive that is worth reviewing with a ChemPoint friction materials specialist.
MOLYKOTE® 7375 Additive Powder is a gray, free-flowing powder based on inorganic solid lubricants engineered specifically for friction lining formulations. It is designed to be incorporated at approximately 3 to 7 weight percent into brake pad, brake lining, and clutch lining mixes, where it distributes uniformly throughout the friction material to control friction and wear behavior over the full life of the component. Once compounded and cured in the lining, the additive works in concert with other fillers, fibers, and resins to reduce brake fade, stabilize the coefficient of friction, and improve friction recovery after high-energy stops.
The primary target applications for MOLYKOTE® 7375 are automotive and industrial friction systems that see repeated high-temperature duty cycles and demanding NVH requirements. Typical uses include disc brake pads for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, drum brake linings, railroad disc brake pads, railroad wheel brake shoes, general industrial brake linings, and clutch linings. In these systems, the additive contributes to reduced vibration, better comfort, and lower noise by smoothing friction transitions and helping prevent judder and disc thickness variation (DTV) effects. Its high temperature capability, listed up to about 650 °C, makes it suitable for high-energy braking where surface temperatures can spike repeatedly.
Regulatory and sustainability expectations are built into the product design. MOLYKOTE® 7375 Lubolid Additive Powder is antimony- and lead-free in line with the EU End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive, and it contains no intentional PTFE or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which is increasingly important in automotive and rail specifications. Being an inorganic solids-based system, it offers long storage stability (up to 60 months in sealed bags at or below 25 °C) and consistent handling in production across global friction material plants.
For formulators and brake system engineers, MOLYKOTE® 7375 provides a multi-purpose friction lining additive that can be used as a tuning knob for fade resistance, friction stability, NVH performance, and pad and rotor life in modern braking systems.
Brake fade and inconsistent braking force under high-temperature conditions in passenger car and commercial vehicle disc brake pads; MOLYKOTE® 7375 Additive Powder helps maintain friction and improve recovery after severe stops, reducing fade-related performance loss. Unstable friction and NVH issues such as squeal, vibration, and judder in automotive and rail brake systems; the additive stabilizes friction, cuts vibration, and improves comfort, supporting low-noise, low-judder braking. Accelerated pad and rotor wear in high-energy braking service that drives warranty claims and maintenance costs; MOLYKOTE® 7375 reduces pad and rotor wear, contributing to longer service intervals and better lifecycle economics. Disc thickness variation and brake judder complaints in passenger cars and rail applications, where small variations in friction can translate into noticeable steering wheel or pedal vibration; the additive helps prevent DTV by promoting more uniform friction across the pad-rotor interface. Difficulty meeting tightening environmental and regulatory requirements on heavy metal and fluorinated materials in friction linings; MOLYKOTE® 7375 is antimony- and lead-free and has no intentional PTFE or PFAS, helping friction material suppliers comply with ELV and emerging PFAS restrictions without sacrificing performance.
