MOLYKOTE® EM-D110 Grease is a high-viscosity synthetic PAO grease designed to quiet and control motion in demanding automotive and equipment assemblies. Its lithium-thickened, PTFE-fortified formulation delivers excellent noise damping, making it ideal for plastic gears, driveshaft spline connections, and other interfaces where engagement feedback needs to be reduced. EM-D110 is compatible with most engineering plastics and elastomers, so you can lubricate mixed-material mechanisms without worrying about stress cracking or softening. Low seepage and long service life help keep enclosed components clean and stable over time, even under vibration and elevated temperature. MOLYKOTE® EM-D110 Grease is a white, NLGI 0–1 synthetic grease based on a very high-viscosity polyalphaolefin (PAO) base oil thickened with lithium soap and fortified with PTFE and other solid lubricants. This combination creates a heavy-bodied, shear-stable lubricant that stays in place on metal and plastic surfaces, providing consistent film thickness for both lubrication and vibration damping. The extremely high base oil viscosity (≈9,850 mm²/s at 40 °C) supports high load-carrying capability and robust separation between mating surfaces, which is particularly important in spline connections, sliding joints, and slow-moving plastic gear trains.
Engineered specifically for plastic components, EM-D110 is compatible with most common automotive and appliance polymers, helping reduce the risk of environmental stress cracking or dimensional changes that can occur when conventional hydrocarbon greases attack plastic parts. Its silicone-free formulation avoids the contamination issues that can cause paint defects or contact failures in electrical components and switchgear, while the low oil bleed and evaporation characteristics support long-term cleanliness in sealed or semi-sealed housings.
In automotive applications, EM-D110 is used where noise reduction, engagement feel, and durability are critical: driveshaft spline connections where drivers may feel clunks or harsh engagement, interior and body plastic gear sets (such as HVAC blend doors, power seats, and window regulators), and other mechanisms where chatter, stick-slip, or backlash noise must be damped without frequent relubrication. With a service temperature range of approximately −10 °C to 150 °C, it covers typical cabin and under-body conditions while maintaining its damping characteristics across a broad range of environments.
