MOLYKOTE® SK-623 Grease is a white, low noise PAO grease designed for plastic and plastic/metal mechanisms that need quiet, smooth motion over a wide temperature range. It combines a polyalphaolefin base oil, lithium soap thickener, and finely dispersed white solid lubricants to reduce friction and damp vibration in sliding and rotating plastic parts. With a service temperature range from -40 °C to 150 °C, it supports reliable operation from cold start to continuous high temperature use. SK-623 is formulated for good compatibility with most plastics and elastomers, which helps protect housings, gears, and seals from stress cracking or swelling. Its low friction coefficient and noise reduction properties make it ideal for automotive interior components, water and gas valves, office equipment, and other applications where squeaks and rattles are not acceptable. If you are chasing down plastic squeaks, chatter, or feel issues, MOLYKOTE® SK-623 gives you a purpose built low noise plastic lubricant to review with a ChemPoint specialist.
MOLYKOTE® SK-623 Grease is a polyalphaolefin oil based, lithium soap thickened grease that contains specially formulated white solid lubricants. This combination delivers a tenacious lubricating film that adheres well to plastic and metal surfaces while providing a low friction, low noise interface at contact points. The grease is white in color and supplied at an NLGI Grade 1 consistency, which provides a soft, easily spread body that wets surfaces thoroughly yet remains in place under light to moderate loads.
SK-623 is designed primarily for lubrication of plastic/metal pairs and noise reduction of plastic parts, with additional suitability for plastic/plastic and steel/steel contacts where plastic compatibility and low noise are critical. Typical applications include automotive interior and exterior mechanisms, water taps and gas valves, small gears and slides in office equipment, consumer appliances, and other components where customers notice every squeak, rattle, or change in operating feel. The product is also referenced for noise and vibration isolation, plastic lubrication, and rubber or elastomer lubrication, which makes it versatile for mixed material assemblies.
From a performance standpoint, SK-623 offers a wide service temperature range from -40 °C to 150 °C, which allows mechanisms to operate smoothly after cold soak and maintain film strength as temperatures rise during continuous operation. Typical data show bleed of about 2 percent at 100 °C for 24 hours and evaporation of about 0.1 percent at 99 °C for 22 hours, so the grease tends to stay where it is applied instead of separating or drying out. A dropping point around 205 °C and four ball wear scar around 0.7 mm indicate sound mechanical stability and anti wear performance for light to moderate duty plastic mechanisms.
Good compatibility with most plastics is a core design requirement for SK-623; which can specifically help protect sensitive polymers used in housings, gears, cams, and seals from stress cracking, softening, or dimensional change when in continuous contact with the lubricant. That makes SK-623 an attractive choice for engineers who want a single, low noise plastic grease they can standardize across multiple platforms rather than managing several niche lubricants. ChemPoint can help you evaluate SK-623 alongside other MOLYKOTE® plastic compatible greases to build a portfolio that separates damping, low torque, and high load plastic applications without overlap.
Squeaks, rattles, and buzz in plastic interior components and trim where customers directly hear or feel noise - MOLYKOTE® SK-623 is formulated for noise reduction of plastic parts and provides low friction, low noise lubrication for plastic gears, cams, and sliding surfaces, helping eliminate squeaks and vibration in automotive interiors, appliances, and office equipment. Plastic damage or swelling caused by incompatible mineral greases in mixed material assemblies - Because SK-623 is a PAO based grease with documented good compatibility with most plastics, it can lubricate plastic and plastic/metal interfaces without the stress cracking, softening, or dimensional drift associated with some conventional greases. Inconsistent feel or torque in small plastic mechanisms across temperature extremes - The wide service temperature range from -40 °C to 150 °C and controlled bleed and evaporation help maintain a stable film so valves, knobs, levers, and plastic slides feel consistent in both cold and hot conditions. Grease migration or dry out in enclosed plastic housings that must stay clean - Low bleed and very low evaporation mean SK-623 tends to stay where it is applied, reducing oil creep onto nearby optical, electronic, or friction surfaces and supporting long relubrication intervals in compact devices. Need for a single low noise plastic lubricant across multiple small mechanisms and platforms - SK-623 is designed for lubrication of plastic/metal parts and noise reduction of plastic parts, making it a strong candidate as a standard low noise plastic grease across automotive interior components, valves, and light industrial mechanisms instead of juggling multiple specialty products.
