Eastman TamiSolve™ NxG is a dipolar aprotic solvent used as an alternative to n-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and n-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone (NEP) due to having a better safety profile and still providing good solvency for various compounds. It is highly versatile and typically incorporated in formulations for applications and industries such as coatings, inks, cleaners, and electronics.. Since TamiSolve™ NxG is not classified as a reproductive toxicant, it offers improved safety and health benefits over the use of NMP and NEP. TamiSolve™ NxG may be used to replace dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and dipropylene glycol dimethyl ether (DMM), owing to a better safety profile.
In coating applications, TamiSolve™ NxG has been used to replace NMP and NEP in wire enamel and coated cookware. It also has found use in waterborne polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) as a cosolvent and coalescing aid. TamiSolve™ NxG is also effective as a photoresist stripper for microelectronics manufacturing and as a safer solvent for pharmaceutical compound synthesis. It has also been used in cleaning and paint stripper formulations as a safer and highly effective solvent.
