Haltermann Carless n-Hexadecane 99 Pure is an ultra-high purity, straight chain organic solvent suitable for a wide variety of specialized production processes. Hexadecane has a very high boiling point and flash point, and is chemically inert. Hexadecane is insoluble in water, and demonstrates solubility with other non-polar solvents and organic compounds.
Hexadecane is used in the preparation of emulsions, and as a substrate for the production of biosurfactants. Hexadecane is also used in cetane analysis to measure the cetane number of diesel fuel.
