Thetaguard Fluoropolymers

Key Applications

Latex Paints; Hard Surface Sealers

Product Description

Thetaguard polymers are water-dispersible additives manufactured by Innovative Chemical Technologies (ICT) that provide outstanding repellency to dirt, soil, and oil. They are typically used as additives in latex paint formulations for architecture and hard surface sealers used to protect masonry, concrete, and other stone materials. Given their water-dispersible nature, they are ideal for low-VOC coating and sealer formulations. Thetaguard FA-1000 is a nonionic, aqueous-based additive that may be used to provide good wetting properties along with repellency in latex paints. The repellency it provides can also help improve dirt pickup resistance, cleanability, and wash durability of coatings, enhancing the overall durability of these formulations. It also offers similar benefits for printing inks. Thetaguard HS-3012 and HS-3035, which are partially fluorinated polymers, are used in hard surface sealer applications, where they provide vapor permeability, in addition to excellent stain protection. They are compatible with ambient curing techniques and do not alter the appearance of substrates. Thetaguard HS-3012 is ideal for maximizing water beading on substrates such as marble, limestone, quartz, granite, and concrete and may be used in ultra-low VOC formulations. Thetaguard HS-3035 is an anionic repellent used in similar substrates that helps provide protection while minimizing change in surface appearance. It is a VOC-free, water-based additive but may not be spray applied.
