BASF Appoints ChemPoint.com as Distributor for Acrylic Monomers in Canada

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, March 3, 2009 -- BASF has named ChemPoint.com as its exclusive distributor for acrylic monomers in Canada for less-than-truckload quantities, effective April 1, 2009.

"BASF's decision in 2004 to appoint ChemPoint as its distributor for acrylic monomers in the United States proved to be successful for both companies and for our customers serviced by this relationship," said Dave Antonuccio, Sales Manager for BASF's Acrylic Monomers business in North America. "ChemPoint remains an ideal partner for the acrylic monomers business in North America, and is also well-suited to satisfy the demanding needs of our specialty customers in Canada."

"ChemPoint is honored that BASF has chosen to expand this relationship into Canada," said Tim Stanislaus, Coatings Marketing Manager at ChemPoint. "It demonstrates the scalability of our global business model, as well as our ability to provide world class service to market segments that are underserved through more traditional models."

"ChemPoint's model is consistent with our overall channel strategy, and, consequently, we are migrating what has worked for us in the United States to Canada, said Frank Bergonzi, Director of Distribution Program Management for BASF in North America."

Acrylic monomers are key raw materials for functional polymers that are used in a wide range of applications, including the manufacturer of superabsorbents, coatings, adhesives and paper. Specialty Monomers are a critical component of products, such as automotive coatings and water treatment chemicals.
