MOLYKOTE® D-3484 Anti-Friction Coating is a heat-curing, MoS₂/graphite dry-film lubricant for metal-to-metal contacts that see slow to moderately fast movement under moderate to very high loads. It forms a thin, gray-black solid lubrication layer that replaces oils and greases where contamination risk, re-lubrication access, or temperature make conventional lubricants a headache. With a service temperature range from -70 °C to +250 °C and Falex-tested high load-carrying capability, D-3484 keeps sliding surfaces protected from cold start through sustained high-temperature duty. It combines excellent lubricating effect with good corrosion protection, high abrasion resistance, and long service life, making it a strong fit for safety-critical and hard-to-reach components. D-3484 is used successfully on pawls of safety cutouts, carburetor springs, lorry coupling sleeves, toothed gears, and automotive safety-belt and trunk-lock parts, as well as bolts and levers in tractors and construction machinery. It contains no intentional PTFE or PFAS, helping align new designs with tightening OEM and regulatory expectations. MOLYKOTE® D-3484 is a heat-hardening anti-friction coating formulated as a solvent-borne blend of solid lubricants (molybdenum disulfide and graphite) in an organic/phenolic resin binder system. Once applied and cured, it forms a dry, adherent gray-black film on metal substrates that delivers long-term lubrication without the mess, migration, or re-lubrication intervals associated with oils and greases.

Lubrication where oils and greases are not acceptable (contamination risk, dirt pickup, or re-lube access) - D-3484 provides a permanent, dry-film lubrication layer for friction pairs where the risk of soiling is unacceptable or where relubrication is impractical, such as safety cutout pawls, seat-belt hardware, and interior lock mechanisms. High-load metal/metal contacts that gall, fret, or seize under boundary lubrication - The MoS₂/graphite solid lubricant package and high load-carrying capacity protect heavily loaded sliding contacts—like lorry coupling sleeves, toothed gears, and tractor levers—from scuffing and seizure under slow or oscillating motion. Inconsistent clamp load and thread damage in bolts and fasteners exposed to harsh environments - As a dry anti-friction coating for threaded connections, D-3484 helps deliver defined, repeatable friction coefficients while also providing corrosion protection on bolts, studs, and nuts used in chassis, tractors, and construction machinery.
