METHOCEL™ A15LV
METHOCEL™ A15LV is a low–molecular weight methylcellulose polymer thickener and rheology modifier for coatings and adhesives. It produces a viscosity of 15 cPs at 2% in water.
METHOCEL™ A15LV is a low-viscosity, water-soluble polymer derived from cellulose that functions as a rheology modifier and thickener. It is a high-purity, nonionic cellulose ether powder with high methyoxyl substitution on its cellulose polymer backbone. METHOCEL™ A15LV provides precise viscosity and rheology control for lower-viscosity solutions. When added to water at 2%, METHOCEL™ A15LV yields a solution with 15 cPs of viscosity.
METHOCEL™ A15LV has excellent stability and can function in pH 2–13, making it a flexible thickener that can be used in a variety of formulations. Due to its shear-thinning rheology, the METHOCEL™ A15LV polymer also imparts good lubricity and flowability under high shear, with rapid viscosity rebuild when shear is removed. METHOCEL™ A15LV may also be used for other functionalities besides thickening. Its cellulose polymer forms reversible gels at temperatures above 55°C, allowing for dramatic increases in green strength for ceramics prior to firing. This enables more complex-shaped parts to be made with lower defect rates.
