Glyclean® D70E is a glycolic acid–based ingredient designed for use in hard surface cleaner and disinfectant formulations. Developed for the European market by PureTech Scientific, it delivers both superior cleaning performance and broad-spectrum antimicrobial efficacy.
With its dual functional groups (acid and alcohol), Glyclean® D70E provides a multimode action for microbial cell disruption, ensuring effective penetration and reducing the risk of microbial resistance. It is particularly well suited for hard surface cleaners and disinfectants used in household, industrial, and institutional settings.
Glyclean® D70E is highly effective against a range of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including E. coli (O157:H7), Listeria welshimeri, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus. Full EN 13697 studies are available for review.
Glyclean® D70E demonstrates strong viricidal properties against both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses. Testing confirms efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 (the virus responsible for COVID-19), Influenza Type A, Rhinovirus Type 37, and Herpes Type 1.
Hard surface cleaner and disinfectant formulations incorporating Glyclean® D70E have been proven effective against viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2 on nonporous surfaces. When used according to label directions for Rhinovirus Type 37, these formulations can be relied upon for disinfection against SARS-CoV-2.
