POLYOX™ WSR N-3000
POLYOX™ WSR N-3000 is a water-soluble poly(ethylene oxide) polymer typically used as a resin in tissue and toweling adhesives and a binder for water-soluble films.
POLYOX™ WSR N-3000 is a nonionic, water-soluble polymer composed of poly(ethylene oxide). It has a molecular weight of 400,000 and will form a solution with a viscosity of 2,250–4,500 cPs when added to water. Like other POLYOX™ water-soluble resins, POLYOX™ WSR N-3000 exhibits a high degree of wet tack. Thus, it serves as an ideal resin for tissue and toweling adhesives, where it dries with no tack and remains soluble in water for repulpability.
POLYOX™ WSR N-3000 can also thicken detergents, where it also acts as an emollient. Additionally, water-soluble films can be made using POLYOX™ WSR N-3000. These films are commonly used to manufacture detergent pods.
The POLYOX™ WSR N-3000 polymer also binds phosphors in fluorescent lamps and cathode ray tubes.
Challenges in recycling paper due to adhesive resins that are not water soluble Short working life of fluorescent lamps Poor skin feel of detergent products
Applications
Fluorescent lamps Cathode ray tubes Detergent Water-soluble packaging Water-based adhesives
