ALKANOX™ 240 Powder
ALKANOX™ 240 Powder is low-volatility and thermally stable organophosphate antioxidant that prevents oxidative degradation for a variety of polymers.
ALKANOX™ 240 Powder is a highly efficient organophosphate antioxidant that effectively reduces peroxide-induced oxidative degradation while processing polymeric materials and thermoplastics. This phosphite antioxidant additive carries a broad range of FDA approvals for use in food contact applications.
ALKANOX™ 240 Powder is a cost-efficient phosphite antioxidant for use in high-temperature processes due to its low volatility and superior color control and protection. ALKANOX™ 240 Powder is a commonly used polypropylene for its minimal LTHA color and gas-fading properties. It is also a preferred antioxidant for polyolefins, polycarbonate, ABS, and polyesters when thermal stability and color protection are required. Furthermore, this grade is a general-purpose phosphite process stabilizer for coatings, hot-melt adhesives, and sealants.
Primary Chemistry: Tris (2,4-di-t-butylphenyl) phosphite
Features & Benefits
Powder form for easy handling Cost-efficient for various types of formulations Prevents processing-induced degradation Effective at high temperature ranges Broad FDA food contact approval Excellent hydrolytic stability Color control and protection Minimal effect in LTHA color Minimal impact for gas fading High synergy with phenolic antioxidants
Problems Solved
High loading rate and cost of antioxidants that are suitable for high-temperature processes Peroxide induced degradation in polymers and thermoplastics FDA clearance for phosphite antioxidants for use in food contact applications Low color control and high volatility of phosphite antioxidants Stability of primary antioxidants for use in high-temperature processes, including thermoplastics and hot melt adhesives High MOQ and long lead time with Tris (2,4-di-t-butylphenyl) phosphite antioxidants Mixing difficulties with granular for antioxidants
Applications
General plastic compounding and masterbatches Polypropylene injection molding and sheet extrusion processes Polypropylene fibers, films, and tapes HDPE and LLDPE films, tapes, pipes HDPE injection molding, rotomolding, and blow molding processes LLDPE rotomolding applications Hot melt adhesives and sealants General stabilizer in coatings, hot-melt adhesives, and sealants
