Superior Water and Oil Repellency

CoatOSil™ 2059 is a silicone emulsion that enhances water and oil repellency performance in commercial hard surface sealer formulations. It is typically added between 1% and 2% to silicone-based coating and sealer formulations and may be used on porous and nonporous substrates such as concrete, marble, and natural stone. Below, water contact angles are shown for M25 concrete test slabs treated with formulations containing CoatOSil™ 2059 at 0.3% and 1.5%.

CoatOSil™ 2059 also offers a unique advantage in terms of providing water beading effects in as little as two minutes, a property that PFAS-based repellents do not provide.

Excellent Stain Protection

The degree of water and oil repellency that CoatOSil™ 2059 provides helps impart durable protection for masonry stains. Below, test panels of M25 concrete were exposed to common aqueous and oil-based ingredients that stain household hard surfaces.

The results indicate that silicone-based sealer formulations are significantly improved in stain resistance after cleaning, to a degree that matches commercial sealers containing PFAS. CoatOSil™ 2059 also provides repellency solutions in some textile and fabric material applications.
