Behind Sustainable Thickening: Exploring CELLOSIZE Products

---

The Chemistry of Sustainable Thickening

At the core of the CELLOSIZE™ PCG line is hydroxyethyl cellulose, a nonionic polymer known for its unique ability to thicken water-based formulations. Here is how it works:

Polymer Chain Entanglement: When introduced into a water-based system, the low–molecular weight HEC molecules interact and entangle, creating a network that increases viscosity without compromising clarity.

Pseudoplastic Rheology: This specialized behavior means that the thickening effect is shear-sensitive—flowing smoothly under stress while quickly regaining viscosity once the stress is removed. This attribute is especially valuable in applications like lotions and shampoos.

Wide Compatibility: Designed to perform across a broad pH range and with various surfactants, the CELLOSIZE™ PCG polymers ensure robust performance in diverse formulations.
