Overview
TecGARD® 400 demist additive is a solution of polyisobutylene (PIB) dissolved in Group I mineral oil for easy blending. The additive reduces the tendency for sprayed lubricants to mist and become airborne. It is soluble in naphthenic and paraffinic base oils and effective at very low treat rates, typically below 0.1%. It can also be added tankside to improve fluid performance to the desired level. At higher treat rates, TecGARD® 400 additive can be used as a tackifier agent in industrial oil formulations.

Problems Solved
Oil-based metalworking lubricants tend to mist when sprayed, creating a messy working environment and impacting worker health and safety. Polymers used to thicken oil or improve tackiness are often difficult to blend into the formulation due to their extremely high viscosity.
