Capstone™ FS-22 is a nonionic fluorosurfactant designed to provide wetting and leveling to solvent-based coating formulations.
Capstone™ FS-22 is a fluorosurfactant composed of a 30% solids solution containing a partially fluorinated acrylic copolymer in methyl isobutyl ketone. This fluorosurfactant is a nonionic solution that can be added to solvent-based and high-solids formulations to reduce surface tension drastically. This reduced surface tension allows for better wetting, spreading, and leveling on surfaces. The Capstone™ FS-22 fluorosurfactant is commercially available as a light yellow liquid in pails and drums.
In coating formulations, Capstone™ FS-22 is used at very low rates, typically 0.05%–0.25% actives, to provide exceptional wetting and leveling. In paint, coating, and ink applications, this helps eliminate craters, pinholes, orange peel, and other surface defects. In addition, when it is cured into a coating, it provides the film with high repellency to oil and water and high resistance to chemicals.
Capstone™ FS-22 is also used in solvent-based cleaning products to enhance the wetting of surfaces, solvate difficult soils, and boost the stain resistance of the treated surface.
Capstone™ FS-22 is compatible with many solvent-based waxes and polishes and can be added to these formulations to improve surface wetting.
Note: All samples and purchases of Capstone for new projects and applications must first be evaluated for approval by ChemPoint and Chemours.
