Dow Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives

Dow Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives container

Overview

Dow’s pressure-sensitive adhesive portfolio that ChemPoint offers consists of ROBOND™ and RHOPLEX™ products, which enable pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) manufacturers and adhesive compounders to maximize performance properties to meet a variety of applications. Based on acrylic chemistry, these products are commonly used to manufacture tapes and labels, where several options are available for permanent, removable, or resealable adhesion. They may also be used in manufacturing textiles and nonwovens and as formulating bases in adhesive compounding applications.

Dow’s acrylic chemistry provides performance in a broad range of temperatures and has high clarity, chemical resistance, and excellent UV stability. Since these products are emulsions, they are water based and help comply with modern regulations aimed at reducing VOCs and solvent use.

In tape and label applications, ROBOND™ and RHOPLEX™ provide easy adhesion on demand in a variety of temperatures. These adhesives can be directly coated onto a variety of surfaces and tape and label stock. They also offer a range of peel strength, shear strength, and tack, or a balance of these properties. ROBOND™ and RHOPLEX™ have good clarity and can resist plasticizer migration, making them ideal for applications ranging from food to pharmaceutical packaging.

Textile applications benefit from having improved wash durability and resistance to abrasion and UV when manufactured using ROBOND™ and RHOPLEX™. These products bond layers of these materials together and help protect them as they are manufactured or handled.

For adhesive compounding applications, ROBOND™ and RHOPLEX™ provide versatile options for use as formulating bases. Compounds made with these products provide high adhesive and cohesive strength on various substrates. ROBOND™ and RHOPLEX™ are compatible with many different formulations, including those with high filler loads.
