LUDOX^® AM is an aqueous dispersion of 30% silica with a particle size of 12 nm. Its silica particles have been modified with aluminate ions to give broader pH stability than standard alkali-stabilized LUDOX^® grades. LUDOX^® AM can be incorporated at neutral to slightly acidic pH to yield a stable formulation, allowing for use in a variety of applications.

LUDOX^® AM is used as a binding additive in latex-based coatings and adhesive formulations to improve durability and cohesive strength. Like other LUDOX^® grades, it is ideal for ceramic and refractory applications, where it serves as a binder to increase mechanical and thermal shock resistance. LUDOX^® AM may also be used as a flocculant for positively charged particles in wastewater and a retention aid for paper manufacturing.
