SYLOBLOC® 41

SYLOBLOC® 41 is a synthetic amorphous silica (silicon dioxide) antiblocking agent supplied as a free-flowing powder with intermediate pore volume and the largest particle size among the SYLOBLOC® series. The intermediate pore volume of SYLOBLOC® 41 provides versatility in the types of films it can be used in, where single-layer polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) and slurry-processed polyethylene terephthalate (PET) are typical options. SYLOBLOC® 41 may also be used as a matting and surface-texturing agent for calendered PVC films and sheets. It can even be used as an anti-plate-out aid. SYLOBLOC® 41 exhibits a low refractive index and, therefore, is characterized with excellent optical properties, as it pertains to preserving the visual clarity and quality of films it is used in. Since SYLOBLOC® 41 is a manufactured silica product, it contains very few impurities that contribute to degradation in film quality and provides antiblocking effectiveness with efficiency. SYLOBLOC® 41 is typically used in plastic films with thicknesses greater than 70 µm. Films using SYLOBLOC® 41 are used in common applications that include heavy-duty industrial and food packaging films. In addition to its use as an antiblocking aid for plastic films, SYLOBLOC® 41 may also be used as an additive in coating formulations to reduce blocking.
