Protaweld® EVR200 is a potassium alginate polymer used as a binder to create welding rod coatings with improved quality, consistency, and welding performance.
Protaweld® EVR200 is a potassium alginate polymer that improves the quality of electrode coatings for welding rods. It is effective in small concentrations ranging from 0.5–2.0 wt% and provides several benefits to the welding rod manufacturing process from start to finish.
When used in coverage paste, Protaweld® EVR200 prevents air bubbles from forming, increases plasticity, retains moisture, and builds viscosity and body. Since the coverage paste has better plasticity, the extrusion process of the electrode coating also becomes easier. As a result, welding electrodes can have a higher production capacity without increasing pressure. Additionally, Protaweld® EVR200 increases green strength, allowing the coverage paste to form an electrode coating with better homogeneity and a more consistent thickness.
Protaweld® EVR200 also promotes better adhesion between the core and the coating, prevents cracking, and acts as an anti-sticking agent, therefore facilitating easier drying processes. Coated electrodes using the Protaweld® EVR200 alginate generally have better bendability and superior welding ability.
