Nouryon's Triameen^® Y12D dodecyl dipropylenetriamine is a broad-spectrum biocide for metalworking fluid, providing excellent protection against bacterial and fungal growth. It is readily biodegradable and has a high biobased content with a 67% renewable carbon index. Triameen^® Y12D does not release any formaldehyde, giving it a better safety profile than other triazine derivatives. The biocide is compatible with a wide range of metalworking additives and oils, including Nouryon's nonionic emulsifiers and phosphate-ester-based corrosion inhibitors. It has very little impact on emulsion stability. According to EN 1276 testing, Triameen^® Y12D has proven effectiveness as a biocide at about a 120 ppm active addition level, a much lower treat rate than other amine-based biocides.
