The FASCAT® 4350 catalyst is a proprietary butyltin compound that offers manufacturers of alkyd resins through alcoholysis and esterification processes.
The FASCAT® 4350 catalyst is specifically formulated for manufacturing alkyd resins through alcoholysis and esterification processes. The efficacy of this grade has been demonstrated in various short, medium, and long oil alkyds produced using fusion and solvent methods. FASCAT® 4350 is a very effective catalyst for facilitating the transesterification and esterification reactions, particularly when the temperature is between 220°C and 240°C. When FASCAT® 4350 is added to the oil at concentrations ranging from 0.03% to 0.04% by weight, it results in a 20% to 25% decrease in reaction time and enhances the color and clarity of the oil. The FASCAT® 4350 catalyst can greatly reduce the time required for esterification and transesterification processes compared to systems that are not catalyzed.
