POLYOX™ WSR N-12K

POLYOX™ WSR N-12K is a nonionic, water-soluble polymer composed of poly(ethylene oxide). This polymer has a molecular weight of 1,000,000 g/mol and forms a solution with 400–800 cPs viscosity when added to water at a 2% concentration. Like other POLYOX™ water-soluble resins, the WSR N-12K resin commonly functions as a binder, thickener, and film-forming resin in a wide range of applications.

Due to the viscosity building performance this polymer provides, it is useful in water-based paints and coatings, where it helps prevent dripping and sagging after application to overhead or vertical surfaces.

POLYOX™ WSR N-12K is used as a binder in liquid and bar hand soaps, where the polymer also contributes towards a soft feel and smooth application. Like other POLYOX™ water-soluble resins, POLYOX™ WSR N-12K exhibits good lubricity and thus is also useful in wire coatings where it increases slip properties. Solutions of POLYOX™ WSR N-12K have a high degree of wet tack, making it an ideal tackifying resin for water-based adhesives. Adhesives made using the POLYOX™ WSR N-12K resin remain soluble in water and are a good option for recyclable or repulpable adhesives.
