RHOPLEX™ Adhesives

Dow’s RHOPLEX™ products are pressure-sensitive adhesives and adhesive compounding bases composed of acrylic emulsions. These are used in specialized applications such as protecting masking tapes and custom adhesive compounds. RHOPLEX™ adhesives provide high performance in a wide temperature range, have high clarity, and exhibit excellent UV and chemical resistance. Since they are water based, they help reduce VOCs in manufacturing processes. In protective masking tape applications, RHOPLEX™ adhesives are typically coated onto polyethylene films, where they provide low peel strength to facilitate clean removability with minimal residue. They have good adhesion to low-energy facestock materials, such as polyethylene, owing to the cross-linking action that helps cure the adhesive. In adhesive compounding applications, RHOPLEX™ grades are used as formulating bases with varying degrees of adhesion and cohesion that may be necessary for specific applications. They are available in both high- and low-viscosity options in a variety of pH values and are compatible with high loads of fillers. They also exhibit outstanding resistance to moisture and alkali.
