Lattice® NTC-50 is a water-dispersible microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) powder ideal for use with formulations containing hard water. It is commonly used as a suspension aid and emulsion stabilizing agent.
Lattice® NTC-50 is a microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) powder containing carboxymethylcellulose. Since carboxymethylcellulose is a water-soluble hydrocolloid, Lattice® NTC-50 is considered a colloidal type of MCC, which is easier to disperse in water than standard MCC. Compared to other Lattice® NTC grades, NTC-50 is easiest to disperse and activate in hard water.
When dispersed in water, Lattice® NTC-50 forms a stable 3D MCC gel network compatible with a wide range of pH and temperatures. This network provides utility in encapsulating and stabilizing water-insoluble particles. Lattice® NTC-50 is thus often used as a stabilizing agent in water-based formulations based on suspensions and emulsions, such as suspension concentrates and printing inks. In agrochemical suspension concentrates made using hard water sources, Lattice® NTC-50 is ideal for preventing aggregation and crystallization of active ingredients. In turn, this improves stability and shelf life. Lattice® NTC-50 is also useful for increasing the stability and homogeneity in emulsion-based ink formulations.
