POLYOX™ WSR N-60K is a water-soluble poly(ethylene oxide) polymer commonly used as a thickener, binder, and film-forming resin in paint, coating, adhesive, and personal care applications.
POLYOX™ WSR N-60K is a nonionic, water-soluble polymer composed of poly(ethylene oxide). This polymer has a molecular weight of 2,000,000 g/mol and forms a solution with 2,000–4,000 cPs viscosity when added to water at 2%. Like many other POLYOX™ water-soluble resins, the WSR N-60K resin exhibits useful properties as a thickener, binder, and film-forming resin in a variety of applications.
In water-based adhesive formulations, POLYOX™ WSR N-60K provides exceptional wet tack while improving vertical cling. Since this resin remains soluble in water, it is ideal for adhesives designed for recyclable or repulpable processes. POLYOX™ WSR N-60K is also viscoelastic and will reduce the splattering and misting of coatings it is added to. Additionally, POLYOX™ WSR N-60K is used in shampoos, hand soaps, lotions, and creams as a thickening polymer that also provides a soft feel and smoother application.
