Sulfolan W ist ein Lösungsmittel, das normalerweise zur Abtrennung aromatischer Benzol-, Toulol- und Xylol-Kohlenwasserstoffe aus Raffineriereformaten eingesetzt wird. CAS-Nr.: 126-33-0
Sulfolan W wird in einem Extraktionsverfahren zur sauren Gasbehandlung (Gasentschwefelung) verwendet, bei dem saure Gase wie Schwefelwasserstoff, Kohlendioxid, Kohlenoxysulfid, Kohlendisulfid und Mercaptane aus dem Erdgas entfernt werden. Gleichzeitig wird Sulfolan W aufgrund seiner hohen Löslichkeit auch für die Extraktion von Aromastoffen verwendet, was zu einer Reinheit von >99,9 % im Endprodukt führt, das nach der Abtrennung für andere Zwecke wiedergewonnen werden kann.
