HiTEC® 7408 calcium phenate additive is a 250 TBN detergent typically blended with other detergent and inhibitor additives to formulate engine oil.
HiTEC® 7408 calcium phenate detergent has a 250 total base number (TBN) and is designed to be used in formulation with other detergent and inhibitor additives to formulate engine oil. It is a cost-effective source of high levels of alkalinity, making it particularly well suited for applications where high-sulfur fuels are used. HiTEC® 7408 additive also delivers excellent detergency for upper ring belt deposits and has exceptional water stability for large marine crosshead lubricants.

Engine deposits in upper ring belts can impact piston ring operation, reducing the ability to properly seal the combustion chamber and leading to combustion gas blowby and oil loss. High-sulfur fuels can be problematic and lead to corrosive wear on engine components, unless engine oils are formulated to neutralize corrosive acids. In marine applications, detergents that are unstable in water can separate, impacting the lubricating oil performance and contributing to engine failures.
