Aspartame is an amino acid-based sweetener with a sugar-like taste. This low-calorie sweetening ingredient doesn't linger or have a metallic aftertaste. Because it is based on protein building blocks, aspartame is digested the same way as other protein foods and it is both tooth friendly and diabetic friendly.
