Lupasol® WF is a branched, water-free, medium–molecular weight polyethyleneimine polymer with a molecular weight of 25,000 g/mol. It is typically used as an adhesion promoter and cross-linking agent in a variety of coating, ink, and adhesive applications.
Lupasol® WF is a branched polyethyleneimine polymer with an extremely high cationic charge density. Lupasol® WF is water free and can be easily made into a solution of desired solids content using water or most polar solvents. The high charge density of Lupasol® WF polymer makes it a highly efficient adhesion promoter and dispersing agent for fillers and pigments. It is used to promote adhesion between dissimilar substrates, including metals, plastic films, and cellulosic substrates.
Lupasol® WF functions as a highly effective adhesion promoter at low use rates in printing inks that contain binders and pigments that are stable with alkalis. It may also be used in adhesives, where it primarily increases cohesive strength through cross-linking action.
For UV-curable ink and coating applications, Lupasol® WF is an excellent primer to increase adhesion and mitigate shrinkage that occurs during curing processes.
Lupasol® WF is also commonly used as an adhesion promoter to increase adhesion between styrene-butadiene rubber and the fibers used in manufacturing car tires.
Lupasol® WF is commercially available as a highly viscous, clear-to-slightly-turbid liquid. In applications that must remain anhydrous, Lupasol® WF can be diluted with toluene and xylene to produce an opaque, homogeneous emulsion that is easier to work with.
