Molykote 7 Release Compound is an NLGI Grade 1, dimethyl‑silicone grease offering long-term lubrication, release, and preservation under extreme conditions (−40 °C to +204 °C), with NSF 51 and NSF 61 approval for food processing & potable water applications.
Molykote® 7 Release Compound is a silicone-based, NLGI Grade 1 grease engineered to provide long-lasting lubrication, moisture resistance, and excellent release properties across a wide range of industrial applications. Formulated with a dimethyl silicone oil and a silica thickener, it delivers reliable performance in environments exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, and thermal cycling — maintaining stability from −40 °C to +204 °C (−40 °F to 400 °F). This compound excels as both a dielectric insulator and a release agent, making it highly versatile for use in electrical systems, rubber and plastic assemblies, molding operations, and food and potable water contact systems.
Molykote 7 is particularly effective in preventing sticking, galling, and tearing of rubber seals and components during assembly or long-term service, helping extend equipment life and reduce unplanned maintenance. It also serves as a protective barrier against water ingress, oxidation, and atmospheric contaminants, making it ideal for outdoor installations, humid environments, and washdown-exposed equipment. In cable installations, it functions as a high-performance pulling lubricant compatible with most rubber-insulated wiring. Critically, it meets key regulatory requirements for sensitive applications — including FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for food contact, NSF 51 for food processing equipment, and NSF 61 for potable water systems. Its low volatility and non-melting consistency further support performance in high-temperature sealing, lubricating, and insulating roles.
With its PTFE- and PFAS-free formulation, Molykote 7 Compound also supports sustainability goals and regulatory compliance in industries seeking to phase out fluorinated materials. Whether used as a mold release agent in foundry shells, a sealant for O-rings in water systems, or an insulator in electrical enclosures, this compound provides broad utility with a proven track record in demanding operating environments.
