LUDOX^® CL-X is an alkaline, 45% solids dispersion of amorphous silica used primarily as a surface modifier to improve anti-slip properties on paper, paperboard, and linerboard. LUDOX^® CL-X colloidal silica is formulated with ethylene glycol to make cleaning coating equipment easier. Compared to LUDOX^® CL-P, which contains positively charged silica particles and an acidic pH that also increases the coefficient of friction on paper, LUDOX^® CL-X contains negatively charged particles and basic pH. Therefore, it is more compatible with and recommended for mild steel coating equipment. When LUDOX^® CL-X is applied to paper surfaces, it improves ink retention, increasing the print quality on paper surfaces.
