Colloidal Silica
LUDOX® TM-50 is an alkaline, aqueous colloidal silica containing anionic silica particles in a 50% concentration stabilized with sodium ions. The large particle size of the LUDOX® TM-50 colloidal silica and the high concentration of silica make it an excellent choice for a number of surface modification applications.
For example, the LUDOX® TM-50 colloidal silica is commonly used in paper and textile coatings to increase friction and reduce slip. LUDOX® TM-50 can also be used in functional coating applications to prevent blocking in dried films where optical clarity is not a concern. It can also be used to deluster coatings due to its large particle size. In textile applications, the LUDOX® TM-50 colloidal silica can also reduce luster and prevent seam slippage during cutting and sewing fabric.
