SP-1056 is a heat-reactive phenolic resin based on brominated octyl phenol-formaldehyde. It is similar to SP-1055 but with higher bromine content.
SP-1056 is a brominated phenolic resin that is heat reactive and contains methylol groups for cross-linking and curing. It offers a faster cure of butyl rubbers and other unsaturated elastomers without the need for halogen donors. SP-1056 prevents quick deterioration by curing or cross-linking.
SP-1056 can also be used for cross-link elastomers in manufacturing pressure-sensitive adhesives. It provides improved cohesive strength while imparting little color to the finished adhesive, allowing high-clarity film formation.
Form: Solid flakes
Specific gravity: 1.05
Softening point (ball and ring): 85°C–95°C
Methylol content: 9.0%–11.0%
Bromine content: 6.0%–7.5%
Primary Chemistry: Brominated octylphenol formaldehyde resin
High-temperature stability
Superior processing properties
Exceptional scorch safety for a wide processing range
Supplied in flaked form for easy handling
Faster cure than SP-1055 due to the higher bromine content
Scorch safety issues with phenolic resins
Poor cohesive strength or color changes while curing rubber adhesives
Butyl rubbers and unsaturated elastomers
Rubber and elastomeric pressure-sensitive adhesives
