PhosGard® 600 is a phosphorus–nitrogen intumescent flame retardant.
PhosGard® 600 is a non-halogenated flame retardant with low solubility for use in engineered resins and thermosets. It is a blend of phosphorus (21%) and nitrogen (24%). The nitrogen concentration acts as an effective intumescent for polyamides, polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) by aiding in the production of char. Furthermore, because PhosGard® 600 offers outstanding synergistic effects between the elements of nitrogen and phosphorus and their conspicuous dispersion, phosphorus–nitrogen flame retardants (P–N FRS) have been widely used in a variety of polymeric materials.
PhosGard® 600's high interfacial adhesion with the polymeric matrix enables superior flame retardancy.
