Isooctane Pure is a high-purity, organic hydrocarbon solvent with a standard 100 point on the octane rating scale. Isooctane, also known as 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, is an isomer of octane and has the chemical formula C8H18. It is highly flammable and volatile, and a critical component in gasoline production to increase knock resistance in the base fuel. It is virtually insoluble in water but demonstrates good solubility in most organic solvents. Isooctane Pure is also used in various industries and applications that require a high-purity, volatile, inert, organic solvent, such as pharmaceutical synthesis, refinery operations, and laboratory analytical techniques, including chromatography and extraction.
