n-Heptane 99 Pure from Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is a high-purity form of normal heptane with an assay of 99%. The hydrocarbon heptane is a nonpolar, straight-chain liquid alkane with a gasolinelike odor and a molecular formula of C7H16. n-Heptane 99 Pure has a flash point of 25°F, a boiling point of 208°F, a vapor pressure of 1.60 psi at 100°F, and a molecular weight of 100.23 g/mol. It is inert to most reagents and has excellent solubility with other nonpolar compounds. Because of its solvency and low impurities, it is used as an organic solvent for a wide range of applications that require batch consistency and reproducible results, including laboratory tests, industrial cleaners, active pharmaceutical ingredients, plant extraction, paints and coatings, polymer production, electronic degreasers, and liquid crystal displays.
