UCON™ R-1 is a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol–based lubricant. It is specifically formulated for high-pressure reciprocating compressors in natural gas service. Dow UCON™ R-1 is engineered for compressors with high-pressure injection (>3000 psig) of surplus gas. UCON™ synthetic lubricants are designed to help extend the service life of facility infrastructure and equipment by providing excellent long-term lubrication and reduced maintenance. UCON™ is the preferred PAG fluid solution, providing excellent lubricity while maintaining low solubility.

UCON™ R-1 is water-soluble, so natural fuel does not dissolve the lubricant or reduce its viscosity, resulting in greater longevity. UCON™ lubricants also deliver excellent film strength and anti-wear and cooling properties, which help dissipate heat from unavoidable temperature increases.

In addition, UCON™ R-1 is compatible with most elastomer types and exhibits good sealing properties. UCON™ PAG is a nontoxic option that allows flexibility with high and fluctuating temperatures, making it a reliable solution for many applications, including rotary screws, valves, and cylinders.
