Overview
Elvacite® 2045 is a high–molecular weight acrylic polymer with broad solubility and a relatively low glass transition temperature (Tg). This resin provides a good balance of flexibility and hardness and is highly soluble in weak solvents. This makes Elvacite® 2045 preferred in coating applications where substrates can't tolerate the use of powerful solvents.
Elvacite® 2045 resin is commonly used in protective topcoats for metalized plastic films and as a binder in printing inks for flexible substrates. Elvacite® 2045 has great solubility in aliphatic hydrocarbons and has nonplugging properties, making it useful in creating tough films in screen ink and toner applications. Elvacite® 2045 may be blended with softer Elvacite® resins, such as Elvacite® 2044, to achieve softer films.
Additionally, Elvacite® 2045 resin burns out very clean and works well in ceramic and electronic applications that require a temporary binder to improve green strength.
