Tospearl™ 3120 silicone resins are spherical methyl silsesquioxane beads with narrow particle size distribution and mean particle diameters. Tospearl™ 3120 is a 12-micron particle size microfine silicone resin used as an additive in biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films as a slip and antiblocking agent. As a slip agent, it improves the coefficient of friction (COF) to facilitate easier processing, faster line speeds, and a low refractive index, preventing the film from tearing. Tospearl™ 3120 decreases friction between film layers, preventing sticking and tackiness issues. Its performance benefits, such as high-heat tolerance, organic solvent resistance, and dispersion applications, allow for a superior appearance for the product.

Momentive Tospearl™ 3120, when used as an antiblocking additive, prevents adhesion during film production, both on a finished roll and on the inside of the bubble. In paint and ink applications, Tospearl™ 3120 is used to improve moisture resistance, control viscosity, and clarify color, tone, and gloss control. As a toner additive, Tospearl™ 3120 silicone resin controls fluidity and prevents static electricity.
