BONDERITE^® L-FG 153 ACHESON (formally known as Deltaglaze 153) is a lubricant made of specialty, lead-free glass frits suspended in water. The protective billet coating is designed for hot forging titanium alloys at extremely high temperatures (1600°F–1800°F) and provides protection from gaseous contamination while heating. BONDERITE^® L-FG 153 ACHESON can be used as is or diluted with water at a ratio of 5:1 (product to water). Spraying is recommended for even, consistent coatings, although good results can be obtained by dipping. Prior to application, the billets should be thoroughly cleaned and preheated to 150°F–200°F (65°C–93°C).
