BONDERITE® S-AD 85 is a soluble, low-foaming liquid inhibitor additive for sulfuric acid and other acid-based pickling operations.
BONDERITE® S-AD 85 (previously known as RODINE 85) is a liquid, low-foam inhibitor for traditional acid-based metal pickling processes. This acid inhibitor additive can be used on a range of steel types and at any active acid concentration. BONDERITE® S-AD 85 is effective in pickling and industrial cleaning processes for phosphoric and acetic acids and sulfamic, citric, oxalic, and sodium bisulfate solutions. The concentration needed to provide maximum protection will vary by metal type, temperature, and pickling process. Below are some general recommendations.
Pickling mild and low-carbon steels:
Temperatures 180°F: 0.25% to 0.5% vol
Pickling alloys and more reactive steels:
Temperatures <180°F: 0.3% to 0.5% vol
Industrial cleaning operations:
Ranges from 0.05% to 0.30% vol, regardless of acidic dilution used
Do not store below 32°F
The use of proper inhibitors during acid pickling reduces the chances of metal attack and pitting, short bath life, steel smutting, and excess fumes. Without the addition of inhibitors, pickling baths are also less efficient at removing scale and rust.
