Elvacite™ BR-73 is an acrylic resin used in coatings for PVC and PVC leather processing. It is also used in automotive refinish and wallpaper coatings.
Elvacite™ BR-73 is a methyl methacrylate bead resin with a relatively high glass transition temperature (Tg) of 97°C. It is among the hardest of Elvacite™ resins and forms films with superior toughness characteristics. Despite this, it has a modest solubility range, contributes a moderate degree of flexibility in coating films, and offers good adhesion and pigment dispersion capabilities. BR-73 dissolves in solvents such as toluene, MEK, acetone, and ethyl acetate, forming clear solutions with high viscosity. While BR-73 is used as a binder in applications with rigid substrates, as in the case of automotive refinish coatings and PVC parts, it is also used as a binder in coatings applied to wallpaper. Additionally, it may be used as a processing aid for PVC leathers.
