Elvacite™ BR-80 is an acrylic resin used in industrial coatings, coatings for PVC, and PVC leather. It has one of the highest Tg among the Elvacite™ BR grades.
Elvacite™ BR-80 is a methyl methacrylate resin with one of the highest glass transition temperatures (Tg) among Elvacite™ BR grades at 104°C. In general, it is one of the toughest resins in the Elvacite™ series, also having one of the highest molecular weights. It is supplied as a free-flowing, nondusting bead that is soluble in solvents such as toluene, MEK, acetone, and ethyl acetate. Elvacite™ BR-80 forms clear solutions and helps form films with excellent clarity and high hardness, while still offering a moderate degree of flexibility, adhesion, and pigment dispersion capabilities. Elvacite™ BR-80 is used as a binder in applications such as industrial coatings, where maximum resistance to abrasion, moisture, dilute acids and bases, weathering, and discoloration is necessary. It may also be used to provide a high degree of durability in automotive refinish coatings and coatings for PVC.
